The Airport Extreme has NAT turned off so you don't end up in a "dual NAT" situation, which causes problems for some folks. AE still works as a second router/switch and gives you best wireless speeds. That seems to work fine for me. A USB connection to a router does not support scanning. Mar 10, 2011 · Does the airport extreme allow flawless airplay. I mean with my current wireless router i have to restart my ipad or iphone every time in order for the airplay icon to show. Is this the same for the airport extreme? Also, does the airport extreme offer better wireless performance than other wifi routers for both the iphone 4 and ipad 2?

You get an AirPort Extreme and, if it doesn't reach every room in your house, you get an AirPort Express — or another Extreme — and cobble it all together. It's… quaint. Perhaps even antiquated.
